As Talbain walked out of his house, he sensed something in the air. He knew something wasn't quite right. Ever sense he was given the ability of transforming into a Werewolf, he had learned to concentrate all of his senses into one, like a wolf. Being able to smell things from from far away, hear things for a mile or so, and his vision was incredible as well. But this wasn't any of his humanistic senses being triggered, this was a specific animalistic sense, instinct.
"I have to hold off the Beast until I can find what's really going on around here. "
Talbain hitched a ride from a very nice old man he had seen a few times fishing in the mountains near Goose Lake. The man glanced over at Talbain's trembling hands.
"Where ya headed, lad?"
"Into the city..."
The old man shook his head... "I don't think you want to go down there, I can only get ya so far... National Guard's got the exits blocked... somethin's goin' on in the major cities."
Talbain looked down... "Then that is where my destination lies. Take me as close as you can to the exit, I can find a way out."
The old man kept driving until he came to one of the closest exits until heading towards the National Guard outposts.
"This here's the closest I can get ya. Here..."
The old man took out his wallet and handed Talbain 50 dollars.
"Take it. Considering I'm never going to be able to leave Sierra City for a while. I won't need much money. I believe you can find a use for it."
Talbain nodded and got out of the car.
"Thank you..."
Talbain closed the door and started walking towards the woods.
"You be careful! Those woods are infested with vicious wolves and all sorts of beasts..."
"How ironic..." Talbain said to himself... and dashed into the woods.
